From siding to shingles to 3D shapes, this simple marshmallow fondant is easy to cut and mold. It’s also much cheaper than candy so it’s a good choice for covering large areas.
Food coloring can be added to tint the fondant, but with the amount of powdered sugar that’s needed to roll it out, it ends up looking dusty. A better option for colored fondant could be brushing the cut pieces with food coloring and allowing them to dry.
Our Recipe for Gingerbread House Fondant
1 lb marshmallows
1/4 cup water
2 lb powdered sugar
Combine marshmallows and water in saucepan over low heat until melted. Stir in powdered sugar and knead until smooth.
Roll to desired thickness on a counter heavily dusted with powdered sugar. Can be rerolled as many times as needed, but may need a very quick warmup in the microwave to remain pliable.
