Locally-Made Souvenirs in the Black Hills

If you’re planning a trip to the Black Hills and want to avoid the tacky tourist t-shirt shops, we invite you to visit the town of Hot Springs for a delightful escape from the crowds, with plenty of options for unique and handmade souvenirs from the Black Hills region.

You’ll want to stop in downtown Hot Springs: Chautauqua Artisans Market at 501 N. River St has a wide variety of locally-made art and gifts, from paintings to woodwork to stained glass and more.

At Fall River Ribers (112 S. Chicago St), you’ll find beautifully handwoven rugs, table runners, wall hangings, and more from local artisans. Many even feature handspun local wool and fibers.

Right next to Fall River Fibers is Hot Springs Makers Market, featuring the work of local crafters along with some antiques and vintage. They’re located at 108. S Chicago Street.

Though you won’t necessarily find anything handmade, you can often find vintage items branded with local information at 2nd Chances Recycled Restored Repurposed (321 N River St).

And of course, we think that Harvey’s Homestead Supply at 631 N. River St is a must-stop when you’re in the Black Hills! Our old-fashioned general store sells all sorts of items from chicken feed to cheesecloth, and we have a large and growing variety of locally-made products:

  • Locally-roasted coffee from Essence of Coffee
  • Locally-made tallow skincare products from Hope & Health
  • Handmade pressed flower notecards featuring Black Hills flowers from Black-Eyed Suzie Designs
  • Local honey from Three Queens Honey
  • Local beeswax from beekeepers in northern Nebraska
  • Scobi kombucha and Arson Pepper sriracha sauce – made just a few doors down from our store!
  • Local and regional pasture-raised meats (pork, chicken, yak)
  • Locally raised eggs, fed organic and soy-free feed
  • Cheese from central South Dakota dairies
  • Ancestral beef sticks from Farmer Bill’s, made with South Dakota beef
  • Hot honey from Dakota Honey
  • Garden wool products from South Dakota ranches

We also have many more USA-made items, like beeswax candles, rolling pins, Ohio stoneware crocks and kitchenware, Lodge cast iron, Scotsman Co butcher block cutting boards, Fontana non-toxic scented candles, and so much more!

Stop by Harvey’s Homestead Supply when you’re in the Black Hills: We’re just one hour south of Mt. Rushmore and fifteen minutes from Wind Cave National Park and the south edge of Custer State Park.

Harvey’s is located at 631 N. River Street in Hot Springs, and we’re open Monday through Saturday.
